Greetings! I’m Cindy Morefield and I create abstract mixed-media works which explore the play between what is hidden and what is revealed. I love how that interaction makes space for mystery! These explorations currently take form as collages and rubbings on paper and panel. My practice includes private and corporate commissions, as well as collaborations with other artists.

My work has been exhibited in solo and group shows, and is held in public, corporate, and private collections. I earned an MFA from Northern Illinois University and am represented by The Mahler Fine Art in Raleigh, NC. My workspace, Scratching the Surface Studio, is located in Fuquay-Varina, NC, 19 miles southwest of Raleigh.

I am originally from Bristol, Virginia. In pursuit of education, employment, and adventure, I have visited all fifty United States, and have lived in six of them! My travels abroad have included Italy, Ireland, Canada, Israel, and Palestine. Outside the studio, I enjoy reading, walking, and learning Italian.
