Radicle View

A series of mixed media rubbings on paper mounted on panel.

A group of unmounted Radicle View rubbings overlapping each other.

Large wall collages, which I call “texture matrices,” are foundational to my current practice. I build the texture matrix from paper, tape, and other recycled materials, then make multiple rubbings from the matrix.

The Radicle View pieces are rubbings from Texture Matrix #4. The initial layers were made with watercolor crayon and/or wax pastel, then highlighted with materials including watercolor, colored pencil, and ink.

“Radicle” is a botanical/anatomical term referring to the part of a plant embryo that develops into the primary root, or to a rootlike subdivision of a nerve or vein.

The pieces are mounted on a wood panel and measure approximately 32 x 25 inches.
